Glass Beach is located along Pacific Coast Highway One on the Northern California coast in the town of Fort Bragg. It is a beautiful beach with a dirty past. From 1949 to 1967 is was used as the areas dump. People simply came from all around to toss their garbage into the ocean. Luckily enough it came to an end and the ocean reclaimed its beach once again. Years of the surf pounding the beach have caused the glass, which once was windows and beer bottles and other items, to become smooth and quite beautiful when it reflects with the sun and surf. Of course, many years ago the beach was filled with glass but the visitors have not obeyed the rules and have stolen the colored glass from this protected area. The entire beach is filled with interesting tide pools to explore to find crabs, starfish and other little critters.
